If you’re on the facebook group La Pulga Online Brownsville, chances are you that you have came across the name various times.  Tito who’s real name is Humberto is the online administrator of the biggest online flea market page for Brownsville.  There are other online pages with similar names such as “La Pulga Online de Brownsville, La Pulga Caliente de Brownsville, La nueva Pulga de Brownsville” and the list goes but the one that Tito runs is the main one.  I actually met Tito about 2 years ago at a small bar called “Blanco’s Bar” by the Port of Brownsville.  I asked him about his last name which he mentioned his great great great grandfather moved to Mexico from the Middle East during the 1800’s and that’s why he looks Arab. Another question I asked why he started the online group and it is because that his parents work at the actual pulga and wanted to do a virtual version of it to help people buy/sell things online.  Initially the group started slowly with a few hundred people but after a year it started picking and now there about 75,000 people in there who go in there daily to buy and sell items.  One of the things that Tito has done to make the group stand out amongst other pulga’s out there is making contests to raffle out prizes, cash , or food and it has been effective.  On occasion you may find useless posts on people bullying other people, people putting meme’s, and a host of other things not related to buying or selling however this happens on all fleamarket pages.  In an effort to combat spam, Tito has mentioned he will try to moderate as best as possible but wants to let others know that managing a group of thousands of people is a lot of hard work and that if you see something that shouldn’t be there, there is an option to report to admin and he will try his best to help out.

Tito works as a recruiter for the meat packing company Eddy Packing Co. in Yoakum,TX which is near by Victoria,TX as a recruiter.  He tries to help out people looking for work by offering them employment.  If anyone is looking for a job and can start immediately, message him on facebook for more details.
