School starts, the official end of summer.

Meet Mr. Moses Losoya, a Brownsville Independent School District teacher who is ready to begin the new 2015-2016 school year. Mr. Losoya is in his fourth year of teaching Special Education.
Prior to becoming an educator he considered a career in the nursing field, “I was originally going for nursing, but was never accepted into the program,  rather than waiting a year, I applied to the education program and studied special education, because I wanted to help students who struggled.”
Teaching students with special needs can pose many challenges.  Mr. Losoya elaborates on some of these challenges by emphasizing that, “both regular and special ed students receive the same challenging curriculum, however the difference is some special ed students require accommodations to help them be successful, and each student has their own unique challenges in their own lives.”
When he is not teaching Mr. Losoya loves to read, listen to music, and most importantly spend time with his wife and four children.  Currently, he is pursuing his Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy online at the University of Capella. “Pursuing this degree will help me understand my students, their parents, and anyone involved in their (students’) education,” he explains. “I’ve always wanted to help people in the community by counseling them, this will allow me to do so professionally,” he states.
Losoya also discusses how education plays a  constant and significant role in his life.  You may typically find the educator at the St Eugene Demazenod Church on Austin Rd, on Sundays.
As summer winds down, the weekend comes to an end and the new school year begins, parents Valley wide and Mexico will send their children off for another year of successful schooling with BISD.
*Note: The first class day for all BISD schools is tomorrow on Monday, August 24th. For more information please visit www.bisd.us
