Brownsville supporters show up to support Bernie

Last night in downtown at the Half Moon Saloon a good turn out of supporters showed up to support their Presidential Candidate Bernard “Bernie” Sanders.

Full house at UTRGV Edinburg

The Democratic debate was also watched through out other parts in the Valley with the UTRGV Young Democrats hosting over 100+ at the campus in Edinburg.  It looks like everyone is going crazy for Bernie Fever with the slogan “#feelthebern”

I’m not personally fond of Bernie Sanders, since I feel he wants to turn the country into Denmark where everyone gets everything free but all the working people get taxed around 50%.  Whatever the case Sanders seems to be drawing many supporters and ultimately if people want to vote for him then they will do so.  I wonder why though when we needed to vote for a mayor in Brownsville, people couldn’t rally the same as they are doing now.

  2. Yes, in Denmark everyone is heavily taxed yet, their citizens have way more wealth than do the citizens of the USA. Income tax rates in Denmark range from 30 percent to 51.5 percent, yet, there is no poverty and certainly no homelessness in Denmark. In spite of the high tax rate, there is high satisfaction (almost 70%) with the social security net it supports.

You are also ignoring the fact of “wage inflation” as Greenspan used to call it. When working class wages taxes are cut, their income FALLS in the next 1-3 years. (It’s been happening the past 40 years.) When working class wages taxes are increased, their income increases over the next 1-3 years.

Bernie’s message of raising taxes on the wealthy is rooted in good economics. High top marginal tax rates – generally well above 60% – actually stabilize the economy, prevent economic bubbles from happening, which in turn prevents the subsequent economic crashes, leads to steady and sustained economic growth and steady and sustained economic growth for wage earners.

As to your question regarding the enthusiasm for Bernie Sanders – he is encouraging people to participate in policies that will benefit them and not the 1%. He has a track record of 50 years of saying and doing the same thing which shows integrity and not cronyism nor catering to “business”. For far too long, the message (a very corrupt message) has been that what is good for Business is good for The People. The People know that is false. The People are enthused and drawn to the message that government and governance should be For The People – to service their needs and to be a benefit to them.
