Every year there is a threat of hurricanes coming close to the Rio Grande Valley and causing havoc. Right now in the Pacific Ocean, Southwest Mexico, one of the strongest storms in the history of mankind is on the verge of causing utter devastation. In a country plagued with violence, government corruption, Mexican peso losing value the last thing that country needs is a hurricane of any magnitude to cause further chaos. These are the things that we as humans have no control over, when mother nature is pissed, we can only sit back and watch and hope for the best.
About a month ago, when Brownsville received a lot of rain and flooded several parts of the city, I wrote an article on why the city actually floods, you can read the full article by clicking HERE. A former mayoral candidate believes that Brownsville voters are to blame on why the city floods, his reasoning is that the people voted for Tony Martinez and that the city commission is not doing enough praying to Tlaloc to stop the rain. Everyone knows that if it rains anywhere on Planet Earth constantly, it’s going to flood, why he keeps blaming the mayor, is beyond my reasoning.

We know the weekend is upon us, for many it is something that everyone has waited for after a long work week and most importantly Halloween parties. Stock up on a couple of gallons of drinking water, candles, flashlight, batteries, canned food, portable radio player and maybe even a favorite board game. If you need to go somewhere, take caution, watch the news, if it starts raining head home and try to avoid driving through high water, if you can’t make it home, then wait it out. Also make sure to throw your trash where it belongs, otherwise that will clog storm drains. Keep calm and stay dry.
