The perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

pbjsanwitch

My peanut butter and jelly sandwich this morning.

With the food scandal going down in the school district in Brownsville, I had a bit of time to think this morning what I would eat in school when I was a young kid.  My mom would make me the best peanut butter jelly sandwiches ever and so today I opened the fridge and noticed there was the ingredients to make one.

She would always put the right amount of jelly and spread it all over the bread so it’s not concentrated specifically in the middle but every square inch would have jelly.  The peanut butter would always be also the same amount and spread evenly but not too much peanut butter so that when I would eat it, it would stick on top of my mouth.

To top things, she would add banana slices and take the experience of eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to a whole new level.

She would pack the sandwich in a paper towel carefully like origami so that when I would unwrap it during lunch, I could use that same paper towel to clean my hands later.  Sometimes in addition to my sandwich I would have an apple, an orange, sliced pineapples, a pear, strawberries and chocolate milk.  I may have eaten some lunch during school, but my main staple through out my elementary years was my favorite, the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, thanks mom! <3
