How did Trump win the election?

In a Facebook post yesterday on the #nomorecheezmeh page, I posted that it took quiet a while for reality to set in and accept the facts that Trump will be our next president.  If you are a religious person and read the bible, then you have to accept that God wanted this to happen.  While the election was going on, I watched NBC news via Youtube,  I also had my wife give me updates as she watched Univision and the only thing I could think of was, what the hell was happening to America.  In facebook when you use the desktop version, there’s a trending feature that allows you to see the most talked about subjects and I happened to click on #election which then opened a link to the New York Times and it was at that moment that it hit me right between the eyes as I was able to see the interactive map of the votes by counties.

What do you see in the map above? Obviously the first thing to notice is that there’s more red (Trump) than blue (H. Clinton).  If you analyze the map carefully though and pay attention to where red overwhelms the blue is that most of the areas are in rural parts of the United States and the majority of blue areas are in major cities/counties.   The top 25 cities in the US are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Detroit, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, San Jose, San Francisco, Charlotte, Boston, Seattle, El Paso, Nashville, Denver, Portland, New Orleans, Miami, Kansas City, Cleveland, Washington DC, Atlanta, Baltimore and all those cities voted for Clinton but why? well the answer is very simple, cultural diversity.  When you have cultural diversity you have people who think differently, are open to change, and because they interact with different people on a day to day basis, typically treat everyone with respect. Once you start going outside the major cities and travel to rural parts of america, you really only see one type of people, white people.  Now I don’t want people to get the wrong idea, all the white people I’ve met and hung out with are great people and we have ate together, played basketball together, and many have invited me to their homes to watch football and have BBQ.   Whenever I travel to central Texas to visit some nice little towns I usually get a different look from the people as if “This guy doesn’t belong here.”    I remember one time many years ago my mom owned a ranch somewhere halfway between Houston and San Antonio and we went to get some groceries at the local town and while talking in Spanish a lady interrupted the conversation and said “SPEAK ENGLISH!!” … my mom was super pissed and was about to rip open a new asshole, luckily she was with me and I was able to calm her down but these are basically the type of people that I am referring to that Trump focused on and catered to.

Yesterday local Brownsville blogger Jerry McHale posted this on his facebook timeline publicly and received a hailstorm of backlash from people.  Jerry is actually a well known educator in the Brownsville Independent School District and has been teaching for over 45+ years and has an excellent track record among his students.  For many that don’t know him in person, one would simply say that he’s just a racist bastard.  The symbolism behind this picture represents a time in America where it was common to see lynchings and the caption “the gringos have spoken, it’s still our country” represents the hate towards other races which is what Trump stands for and basically sets America 100 years to what the picture depicts, but no way means Jerry himself is racist.

So what do you guys think, was White America not ready to hand over the reigns for at least another 4 years? Or what happened? Let me know your thoughts through here or on Facebook.
