USA wins opener in the Gold Cup 2015. Thanks to Clint “Deuce” Dempsey.

The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) faced Honduras today at Frisco, TX at the Toyota Stadium.  The USA team begun a new era without their best player in history, Landon Donovan and while it is still questioned why coach Jurgen Klinssman didn’t pick him to go to the World Cup last year, we must just accept the fact that he didn’t take him.  A lot of new faces are in the team now such as Gyasi Zardes, DeAndre Yedlin, Timothy Chandler who should be players to watch.  We still have some good veteran’s such as Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley (current captain), and Clint Dempsey in the lineup.  2 goals from Clint Dempsey assured the Stars and Stripes a victory while Honduras scored a goal from Carlos Discua.   The game started very slow and often at times I considered just turning off the television but then Dempsey scored a lucky goal in the 25th minute after a few rebounds inside the goal.  The game continued to be somewhat slow with both teams going back and forth until the US got a free kick and Michael Bradley sent it in and Dempsey scored a header.  It appeared to be a 2-0 defeat for Honduras until Discua scored one back.  Overall I think the US needs a lot of work and it will be sometime until we find a new “Landon Donovan”.
