Why gas needs to stay cheap.

When I turn on the news, most of the time I see nothing but talks about oil prices and big companies such as Halliburton, Exxon, etc.. laying off people.  Layoffs happen all the time in any job sector and it is very unfortunate that it hurts many Americans that rely on oil prices staying high for it creates jobs in many other areas.  The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few and to me this is one of those things.

First of all when you live in the United States and especially in Texas, you need a vehicle to get you from point A to point B and if you can’t afford the price of high gas then you won’t be able to get from point A to point B.  The current price of crude oil per barrel is about $38.00 and the price of unleaded gasoline is about $1.80 per gallon, as to say about 2 years ago the price of oil was $110 a barrel and gasoline at close to $4.00.  When gas prices are high this means that everything else also costs more and it is very probable your job is not going to pay you any higher and you need to basically stop doing a lot of things you normally do.  Summer trip with the family to San Antonio? You can kiss that goodbye,  5 year anniversary in Paris? May have to settle going to Galveston, however with gas prices being the price they are currently then you don’t have to give up on those things.

One of the main things I love doing over the weekend is going out to the movies with my wife.   Coca cola, popcorn and 3D glasses and watch all the comic book superheroes coming out, do you really want to miss out? If gas costs 2x as much to put in your tank then that extra money I have to enjoy at the theater will be gone.

Maybe you don’t go to the movies and want to stay home instead and enjoy a nice large pizza from Pizza Hut with the stuffed crust and pepperoni, I’m a big pizza lover and sacrificing food is one of the things I hate doing and if its all because of high gas price then I hate it even more.

The most important thing from having high gas prices is that it takes away from everything and sometimes that is including sleeping at night with the nice cold A/C.  It may be possible to live without going to the movies, or maybe having delicious pizza but can you do without sleeping with the air conditioner in Houston heat?
